Film Pitch Guidance

Film Pitch

The aim of a film pitch in the movie industry is to sell your film to a distributor, who will decide whether your film should be released for cinema viewing (and for how long) or whether it should go straight to DVD.

Your group will need to complete a film pitch – this will also be filmed as part of you planning and research.

During your pitch, you will need to address the following areas:

·         Genre

·         Type of trailer – teaser, narrative guide (the audience may already know the story e.g. Harry Potter), action thriller

·         Target audience – Who they are and how this will relate to them. Age, type of person, demographic

·         The research you have done – Comment on how this has made your idea better

·         Key genre elements – images that represent the horror genre, stereotypical features, connotations of specific elements/effects

·         What will the key point of the trailer be?

·         Which film studio/s will you assign the film to? Why? You will need to carry out some research into different institutions
